PROMISING NEW AREAS

IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PATIENTS WITH SCALP SEBORRHEA

  • Genomic techniques are providing insights into the mycology of dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis that will allow for more accurate diagnosis and more efficacious treatment.
  • Advances in deposition technology are improving residual benefits. New technology in formulating shampoos and conditioners allows beneficial substances to remain behind on hair and scalp when the initial product residue is rinsed away.
  • Prophylactic treatment can provide long term relief from dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. Yearlong studies reveal that long-term prophylaxis prevents recurrence and they show no evidence that M. globosa becomes resistant to PTZ.7 Patients with responsive scalp seborrhea continue to experience relief and see hair health improve as long as they stay on the treatment.
  • Increasingly sophisticated treatments will provide greater hairstyle control while inhibiting M. globosa and relieving scalp distress. PTZ is being formulated into cosmetic products that enhance hair appearance while they tame rapid cell turnover and inhibit the biological mechanism of dandruff. Product versatility will further enhance compliance and efficacy.
