Skin's Texture Influences Perception of Beauty

It is hypothesized that low contrast and brightness are key optical parameters of attractive, healthy skin and that color is as important as topography in affecting these endpoints. Skin color distribution, therefore, is potentially an important visual cue of human health and beauty. To observe this, Drs. Matts, Fink and Grammar recently lead a study observing the single-variable contribution of skin color distribution in the perception of age and attractiveness. Learn more»

A Primary Lesson: Effective Hand Washing

Diarrheal and respiratory diseases cause 3.5 million deaths a year among children in developing countries. So P&G Beauty sought to study the effects of proper hand washing on reducing the incidence of disease. A school-based hand washing program for elementary students was evaluated to determine if such an intervention could reduce illness and absenteeism rates in both students. This program also sought to evaluate if there was a change in attitude and behavior among these students about hand washing frequency. Learn more »
